Larisa K. Schelkin is a CEO & President and Co-Founding Director of the Diversity and Outreach in Math and Engineering (DOME) Foundation, Inc. and a Founding Director of Global Technology & Engineering Consortium (GTEC), hosted by Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA. She was appointed to the Diversity Committee, Massachusetts Governor’s STEM Advisory Council in 2010. Larisa also serves on Massachusetts STEM Summit Executive Committee for a number of years. Prior to her position with the DOME Foundation, Inc. Larisa served as the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity at WIT in Boston, Massachusetts, and also as the Director for the Center for Diversity and Inclusive Leadership at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Before joining Tufts, Larisa managed engineering training & education, college relations, and diversity programs at Tyco Electronics Corporation, M/A-COM, Inc. Prior to this position she worked as a Director of Operations for Center for Loss Prevention and Structural Integrity at WPI.  Larisa is originally from Bashkortostan (South Ural Mountain) Republic (a part of Russia).

Larisa Schelkin is an accomplished (trilingual) executive manager with a proven track record in developing & implementing innovative strategic approaches for building successful collaborations & partnerships grasping unique challenges bridging corporations, foundations, government, academia, K-12, professional associations & non-profit organizations as well as the extensive knowledge of all sectors. She is a nationally recognized advocate for women and diversity in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and STEM education. Larisa has received a Catalyst Award at the Broad institute of MIT & Harvard in 2009 and ASEE NE Distinguish Service Recognition in 2006. Larisa Schelkin is a proud graduate of the Emerge Massachusetts (Women-Leadership Program), Class 2009. At ASEE Larisa is concentrating her efforts on diversity & innovation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); women & underrepresented groups in engineering; K-16 outreach & global STEM education. Larisa has received ASEE NE Distinguish Service Recognition in 2006. She has also served as the Vice President of Career Guidance, Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Boston from 2003-2006, and as  a Chair for SWE National Multicultural (Diversity) Committee 2005-2009 and is a member of the International Committee & Government Relations and Public Policy National Committees. Larisa served a Chair, Motorola Foundation Multicultural Awards and The Boeing Company Foundation Multicultural Awards from 2005-2009. Larisa has also served as SWE Industrial Advisor for SWE Boston University and SWE Faculty Advisor for Tufts University NSBE and SWE. She also served as an Advisor for the New England Science Network at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2004-2007. Larisa K. Schelkin is a member of Massachusetts STEM Summit Executive Committee & Massachusetts Metro North & Metro West Regional Employment Advisory Boards and also of the Massachusetts High Tech Magazine “Women to Watch” Annual Award Committee. She has developed strong partnerships with Raytheon, Motorola (Freescale), Tyco Electronics, IBM, Hewlett Packard, General Electrics, Intel, EMC, United Technologies, Analog Devices, Agilent Technologies, DuPont, BP, Exxon Mobil; Textron Systems, MITRE, BBN Technologies, BAE Systems, IROBOT Corporation, Lockheed Martin, Boeing; Millipore, Novartis, BMW Corporation and etc. Larisa has also developed strong partnerships with MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Umass, Smith College, Olin College of Engineering, Babson College, WPI, BU, Northeastern University, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech & Purdue University. Larisa is a member of Massachusetts STEM Caucus; STEM Education Caucus and Diversity & Innovation Caucus. She was elected to the Board of Directors, The Triangle Coalition for Science and Technology Education, Washington, DC in 2009 and will serve in this position until 2012.  She was elected as a Fellow, Massachusetts Academy of Science in 2010 and received a Catalyst Award together with a first African –American woman Dean of Harvard College, Dr. Hammonds in 2009.

She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Petroleum Engineering from the Russian Petroleum Engineering University, and a Master of Science from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Larisa has done Doctoral work in artificial intelligence (AI) and the mathematical model of hydraulic processes. Prior to immigrating to the United States with her family, Larisa was employed as a petroleum engineer & a senior petroleum engineering research and development specialist at the Russian Oil and Gas Research Institute in Moscow. Larisa and her family have lived in Russia, India, and Africa, and proudly became citizens of the US and reside in Massachusetts since 1994.
