Marc Apter received a BSEE (Electronics) from Pennsylvania State University in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy for five years, then worked for the Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) until retiring in 2000, as the NAVSEA Command Information Systems Security Manager. Until his retirement in 2011, Apter worked for URS Corporation in Dahlgren, Virginia as a Senior Information Assurance Specialist, developing security documentation for Government shipboard computer systems.
He has been a member of the IEEE for more then 49 continuous years, joining his Universities Joint IRE/AIEE Student Branch in his Junior Year, and became a Student Member in 1963. He was elevated to a Member of the IEEE in 1965, and was advanced to Senior Member in 1982. He became a Life Senior Member in 2008. Marc is the 2013 President of IEEE-USA.
