Robert “Bob” A. Pauley is a teacher of computer applications, robotics, web design, photography and videography working for the School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC), Florida since 2001. He created The Classroom of Tomorrow – Today!, a wiki of open-course freeware STEM curriculum for use with his students that functions entirely online, without textbooks and has written hundreds of lessons plans available to other educators through his SMaRT (Science, Math and Reading Technology) Ambassador Training Program.

Pauley earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida in 2001. From Florida Atlantic University, Pauley was recognized as a member of the Parliament of Owls and received the Talon Award.

In 2010, Pauley became the first recipient of the Radio Club of America’s Educational Award for Excellence in Wireless Technology. He also received Palm Beach County’s Dwyer Award for Excellence in Education in 2006. Pauley founded Toastmasters for Educators for SDPBC and has served as President of the Palm Beach Teachers’ Guild. Pauley is a member of the Association for Career and Technical Education, Computer Science Teachers Association, Association for Computing Machinery, and Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

In decades past Bob, a seasoned septuagenarian, has been a student of mining and industrial engineering at West Virginia University (1953-1958), a mining engineer for Appalachia’s Amherst Coal Company, a jet fighter pilot for the United States Air Force, a resort manager and owner in Palm Beach, a rocket and jet engine researcher and programmer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and a songwriter and publisher in Nashville. He enjoys writing and has edited, proofread, written and published articles and screenplays for Chicken Soup for the Soul. Bob’s most recent writing project, a non-fiction book titled The Man from Bethlehem, explores the chilling reality of wrongful convictions on America’s death rows.

Pauley is serving his fellowship at the National Science Foundation, Engineering Directorate, Division of Industrial Innovation and Partnerships.
