North Carolina – High school engineering and technology
Chris says that his most memorable Fellowship experience is having the opportunity for daily professional development while surrounded by the leading scientists and engineers in the nation. During his Fellowship year, Chris served as an NSF Open Government Initiative Moderator, a grant portfolio analyst, ADVANCE representative, and assisted in the development of programs intended to reach the underserved, at-risk, and students with disabilities in K-12 education. At the end of his Fellowship year, Chris returned to North Carolina and continues to teach technology and engineering at West Wilkes High School. He also teaches at Appalachian State University. Chris says, “I gained numerous resources to improve technology and engineering education. The year allowed me the opportunity to revamp how I teach my curriculum.”
