Founded in 1856, The Academy of Science of St. Louis is the oldest science academy west of the Mississippi River. Today it is the home of scientific literacy and educational initiatives, including the Junior Academy of Science and the Greater St. Louis Science Fair.
The Academy of Science of St. Louis is dedicated to improving scientific literacy in the St. Louis region.
Goals are:
- To increase public knowledge and support of science and technology;
- To provide a forum for collaboration and dissemination of programs and resources in science and related areas;
- To stimulate exchanges among scientists, teachers, students, scientific institutions, and the public; and
- To enhance and support science education and the recognition of achievement in scientific and educational endeavors.
