The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nationwide, nonprofit organization composed of the public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO seeks its members' consensus on major educational issues and expresses their view to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public. Through its task forces and committees, the Council advances major education initiatives and addresses to a broad range of concerns about education.
In representing the chief education administrators, CCSSO has
access to the educational and governmental leaders in each state and organizes
national influence on education issues. CCSSO forms coalitions with many other
education organizations and is able to provide leadership for a variety of
policy concerns that affect elementary and secondary education. CCSSO members
act cooperatively on matters vital to the education of all students in the
United States. |
